Colorado's Premier International Poetry Film Festival
Maryam Imogen Ghouth publishes poetry in visual, audio, and written forms. She has directed nineteen poetry films in both Arabic and English and co-directed an additional six. She began submitting her films to international festivals in late 2023, receiving recognition for her latest works, such as 'Bubble Hat', from numerous festivals and cinemas, including the Sweden Film Awards and Dubai’s arthouse, Akil. Her poetry recordings have been featured as narrative overlays in several multi-award-winning short films, including ‘Under the Sun’ by director Alla Dulh and ‘Just Once’ by Zuhair Lokhandwala; as lyrics and spoken word for music producers and composers, such as Ricardo Haila and Arash Behzadi; and as guided meditations for wellness practitioners and projects, such as Ruqaya Ahmed and the biophilic design-centered development, Keturah Reserve. Maryam's poems have appeared in several international literary journals and anthologies, including Last Leaves, inscribe, Sky Island Journal, and The Poet Anthology.

Ian Gibbins is a South Australian poet, video artist and electronic musician. His poetry has been widely published, including four books, two of which are in collaboration with artists. His video and audio work has been shown to acclaim around the world in festivals, on-line collections, gallery installations, and public art commissions. Until he retired in 2014, he was an internationally-recognized neuroscientist and professor of anatomy at Flinders University, South Australia.
Paul is an Irish born film maker who resides in the US. He is a graduate of The National Shakespeare Conservatory NYC. He has directed over 180 shorts /Poetry films. Paul has embraced the Independent film makers of Colorado making it his home away from home.
Born in 1971, Michael Bliss spent his childhood in Colorado. He realized his passion for art, poetry, film and photography during his teenage years. At age 24 he moved to Austin, Texas to study and make films. While having an art studio and working at the Artplex gallery he became friends with teachers, students, artists and filmmakers creating an artistic community together.
Michael knew he wanted to be a film director ever since high school. He has now directed over a dozen award winning films and has worked with and for many inspiring directors including Robert Rodriquez (The Faculty, Sin City, Desperado, Spy Kids), Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, School of Rock (A Scanner Darkly), Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction), Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead) and many others. His passion for art and film is matched by his passion for life and his community.
Michael Bliss created The Bliss Festival in 1999 (Now called Blissfest333) in memory of Gary Peden who took Michael under his wings and and was the founder of the Artplex. Blissfest333 is a multimedia, cultural arts, film festival that creates unity in our commUNITY. Each Festival benefits and supports many great causes. This year marks the 25thAnniversary which features and supports many talented artists, filmmakers, musicians, poets, local events and festivals including “Poetry in Motion”.
Michael moved back to Colorado from Texas to be with his mother who passed away in 2003. He is blessed with his beautiful wife Bonnie and five wonderful children and currently lives in Lakewood, Colorado.
In the past years Michael has made many contacts in the film, television and non-profit communities and has won numerous awards for his art and films. Bliss has a sizeable group behind him as he heads into his next big production and is sure to make an impact in the Colorado Arts & Non-Profit Community in the years to come!

James W. Barnes is an Australian Poet based in Gladstone, Queensland. Sometimes described as an everyman poet, James has been involved with more than fifty collaborations since 2013 as; a poet, reader, adviser, audio technician, anthology reviewer, poetry festival Judge and director. His collaborations with other poets, film makers, musicians and photographers has allowed his poetry and readings to appear in film at festivals around the world. "I understand how meaning and interpretation may be affected by using different media and the comprehension of the one immersed in the experience. In my collaborations with other poets, musicians, filmmakers, and media artists, the results have indeed, been a reflection of our differences and for that reason, rewarding experiences." James earns a living as a cobbler and also runs a local book exchange
Ralph-Michael Giordano is a New Jersey native but has called Colorado Springs his home for over 35 years. Ralph is a graduate of New York University Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production (1982)
He is the Owner/Operator of ArchAngel Productions, LLC. Ralph writes, produces, and directs video productions ranging from commercials, training, and marketing videos to short independent films/videos. Recent short films include: "By the Way, Bob" (Co-Producer), "The Silence" (Writer, Co-Producer, Director), The Telly Award winning short, "Weighing the Days" (Producer/Director), and "Ten Past Two" (Director of Photography), "Dink" (Producer), “Stalemate” (Co-Producer), Peccadillo (Co-Producer), and the award-winning short, Knockout (Producer/Director).
From 1992-1996 he was appointed by the Colorado Springs City Council to serve on the Colorado Springs Film Advisory Board.
He was a co-creator of the Pikes Peak Film Council, a non-profit organization whose mission was to produce the U.S Environmental Film Festival where he served as President of their Board of Directors (1989-1993).
He currently is the Executive Director of the Peak Film Forum, a non-profit (fiscally sponsored by the Independent Film Society of Colorado/IFSOC) public networking group for local writers, producers, directors, and actors to promote film/video production in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. The Forum sponsors local independent film screenings, "Show Us Your Shorts.
In addition, Ralph is the Festival Director for The Independent Film Society of Colorado, a local non-profit organization serving the Pikes Peak Region. He co-manages three annual film festivals including Colorado Short Circuit Film Festival (for Colorado filmmakers), Indie Spirit Film Festival (which is open to international, national, and local filmmakers), and Three Nights of Horror. IFSOC promotes Independent Filmmaking in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region
Eric Allen Yankee is a member of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade and League of Revolutionaries for a New America. His work has been published in The Good Men Project, The People’s Tribune, Dissident Voice, and many anthologies of poetry including Sweet Wolverine, Revolutionary Vision (Vagabond books), and Reimagine America (Vagabond Books). He is the author of four poetry chapbooks: Bees Against the War (Moria Books/LocoFo Chaps), RIOT (Finishing Line Press), American Bullet (Atomic Theory), and The Sun Will Become Fireflies (Honeybees for Peace). His chapbook titled This War is forthcoming from Barrio Blues Press. His poem “For Ebola Burners of Liberia” was nominated for a Pushcart prize. He was most recently a nominee for poet laureate of Chicago.
A celebrated poet and filmmaker, Rob Bowen has been working hard for over a decade to leave his mark on the indie film scene in the state. Hailed as "Colorado's most prolific filmmaker" Rob has a large film family of collaborators, with an impressively large body of work to highlight their story telling prowess and skills! Rob runs Whatsabudget Films and Permanent Marker Productions with his wife and partner, and they have over 60 films for these brands, while Rob has worked on multiple feature film projects for other local filmmakers as well. From Poetry films to Horror, and from Drama to Documentaries, Rob creates across genre and tells tales of fiction and non-fiction.
What is this Festival trying to promote for the poetry film world ? The answer may be in the title "Poetry In Motion".....There is the obvious; poetry and film, but also motion for this art form, allowing easy access and promoting the forward motion of an open minded interpretation of what poetry can be. Ultimately , how it can best attest to its ability to express the human condition through film.
Poetry In Motion will soon begin its fourth season in April 2025. The festival will choose up to 18 short-listed films (Award Nominees).

The festival will select up to 18 shortlisted films on August 11th, 2025, On October 8th PIM will select with the winner of the PIM award for Best Poetry Film chosen Wednesday November 13th at the Cottonwood Center for the Arts.
